Climate Action (Last One until September)
Many Orthodox churches in Ethiopia preserve a belt of forest around their buildings to resemble a renewed Eden. Those sacred forests are now providing the seeds for restoration in the larger landscape, which has been decimated by extractive agriculture. The government has undertaken a Green Legacy Initiative to foster a greener, more climate resilient country, with tree-planting as one part.

“The Future is Peace” Book Club
Mennonite Action Canada invites people from across the country to join a book club study of New York Times’ Bestseller The Future Is Peace: A Shared Journey Across the Holy Land by Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon. Held every Sunday in June, either join in person at WK Mennonite Church, 15 George St at 6pm or online at 7pm. Learn more or register here.
Music at Detweiler Meetinghouse, 3445 Roseville Road, Ayr, Thursday, July 16 at 7 pm is the Annual Detweiler Hootenanny with spirited singing and lively music by the Official Hootenanny Good Time Chorus and Band (some you might know or even be related to). Lyric sheets will be provided of carefully selected camp songs, protest songs, gleeful ditties, TV themes, Sunday school choruses, folk classics, and more – all new selections this year. The Art of Lied & Mélodie Free Admission to Masterclasses and Concerts (St Andrews Presbyterian, Kitchener). This Festival/Workshop, organized by Bass-Baritone Daniel Lichti, brings together pianists and singers to explore the best of Lied.
